I really like the different shades of yellows and oranges throughout the image, I think they really help contribute to the surreal atmosphere. The capture being straight-on also adds another unique twist, usually bug photos are captured from the side but you took it at this perspective, which I think helps it stand out amongst all the other bug photos.

I also like that there are no overexposed or unexposed areas in the image. These types of things frequently take away from details in a photo, but I think you've captured the lighting in this one very well.

I think the DOF is pretty cool, too, the way the background is blurred makes the eyes and the bug's face just seem to "pop" out at you, almost like 3D if you really think about it.
I must say that I wish that some areas in the foreground were more in focus such as the edges of the eyes, but this is a truly wonderful photo the way it is.

I really like how my eyes seem to be drawn to the center of the photo, for different reasons, I think. The darker lines in the background just outside the eyes start to draw your attention to the eyes, and then from there you just want to look even deeper into the photo, and you notice even more details. I like your choice of composition, I wouldn't have done it any differently, because with it like this, our attention is draw into the photo rather than out of it...if that makes sense?

Lovely work!

I can't say I am fond of bugs. >.<

This is pretty cool, though, especially with the way you'e managed to capture it straight-on. The colours complement and contrast with each other effectively and there is enough detail here to question whether something is really that something or whether it's something else.

It's like it's got a bit of skin or plant in its whiskers... and I feel as if you've captured it in a way that makes it almost cartoon-like as well, which is a bit surreal. >.<

Not bad, anyway! :D
